Halong Tourism Festival 2011

Halong Tourism Festival 2011 is planned to kick off on April 28, lasting five days to May 2 in Bai Chay tourism area (in Halong City), Mong Cai City, Yen Hung, Van Don and Uong Bi District.

This festival is annually organized since 1998, which has helped enhance the image of the northern province of Quang Ninh as well as Halong Bay – one of the World Heritage Site of Vietnam. In the meantime, it has been the motivator of the province’s social-economic development.

This year there will be a wide range of new cultural activities which are believed to lure a myriad of visitors. The highlighted traditional programs are Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival, Food Festival, Tuan Chau International Beach Volleyball Tournament, Photo Exhibition of Halong Beauty, Concert Performances, Quang Ninh Open Tennis Tournament, Quang Ninh International Trade Fair, etc.

Among these fascinating activities, amazing light art performances for the first time will be held at a special area during the festival week.  

Ha Long Tourism Festival attracted more than 500 thousand visitors just within four days in 2010. This number is expected to sharply increase in the upcoming event.

This is a big chance for Vietnam to conduct the campaign calling for votes for Halong Bay as one of seven new natural wonders of the world and foster the link between sport activities and cultural ones.
